James Marlin "Jim" Follese

James Marlin “Jim” Follese born March 13, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was invited by his Lord and Savior into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 26, 2018 at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL surrounded by the love of his life, best friend and wife of 47 years, Darlene, along with family and friends he laughed with, lived for and loved. Jim was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He went to Dunwoody to become an electrician. There he raised his first family and was proud owner of James Electric for 44 years. Jim met his present wife Darlene, who was on a layover, as she was a flight attendant, at a party and they were married 1 month later in Las Vegas. After Jim’s cancer (non-small cell lung cancer which had metastasized to his spine went into remission). He and Darlene retired to Bonita Springs, FL in 2005. After 4 months of “retirement” he and Darlene started Creative Home Watch, which is in operation as of this date. Still needed a little more to do, and with his talents of building and electrical he took position of Caretaker at Little Hickory Bay Condominiums for the last 6 years, after serving on the Board of Directors for 3 years. Jims claim to fame is having been a member of Knights of Columbus for 37 years. He served as cook at the Annual Fish Fry amongst other functions. Jim served as Grand Knight and most importantly the cancer support ministry he brought to St. John The Evangelist (Circle of Comfort). Jim is survived by his wife, Darlene; their daughter, Tara Follese; granddaughters, Tiffany (great granddaughter Ashlynn), Tanna and Taylor; sons, Jeff (Debby, children Elizabeth, & Matt) Follese and Jimmy (Dawn, sons, Preston & Andrew) Follese; daughters, Cindy (Jerry & daughters Heather & Allison) Beneke and Becky (sons, Christopher & Stephen) Locky; and great grandchildren; brothers, Gary, Bob and John; sisters, Mary (Willie) Ryan, Dorothy (Sonny) Cutler, Linda (Larry) Rankin, Carol Fox and Jan Healy; nieces, nephews and blessed with many friends. Jim will be celebrating his 80th birthday on March 13, 2018 in heaven with the creator who created Jim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue N., Naples, FL 34108. Inurnment will follow in he the church memorial garden. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
