Mitra M. "Mitzi" Phillips

Mitra M. “Mitzi” Phillips 82, of Bonita Springs, FL died on August 13, 2024. A former resident of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Mitzi has been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2018 and a winter resident since 1995. She was born on February 23, 1942, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late Vladimir and Latsa K. (Nakeff) Boujoff. Mitzi was a well-known Realtor in the Birmingham-Bloomfield area for 40+ years. She was Realtor of the Year in the Birmingham-Bloomfield Board of Realtors in 1992 and worked for several real estate firms during her many years in the business. Mitzi ended her career with Max Broock Realtors in Birmingham, MI. If you knew Mitzi, she was a character and a larger-than-life personality. She never left the house without her hair done and her “face” on! She always had a funny story to tell and always said that “if it wasn’t fun she didn’t want to do it!” She loved to sing Karaoke; her favorite song to belt out was Stand By Your Man by Tammy Wynette. Mitzi used to introduce herself to others by saying her name was just like Mitzi Gaynor’s, but any resemblance was purely coincidental. She was a “Silver Fox” designated member of The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills since 1978, as well as a huge bridge player. She especially loved a good glass of red wine and a great luncheon. She was also a member of the, The Women’s Architectural League-Detroit Chapter, Encore Group in Bonita Springs/Naples as well as Newcomers and The Juliets-Naples/Bloomfield Hills. Mitzi was an excellent cook and loved to tell you that “if you can read, you can cook.” Mitzi was also a member of the Macedonian Orthodox Church since birth. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Louis T. Phillips of Bonita Springs, FL; her daughter, Dawna Phillips McCowell (Sean) of Troy, MI; her beloved granddaughters, Kit Kuhne (Matt Witkos) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mara Kuhne of Troy, MI. She is also survived by her brother, George Boujoff (Judy Collard) of Toronto, Ontario, and her sister, Leny Ware (Barry) of Kingston, Ontario. A memorial service to celebrate her life is being planned for the fall and will be held at The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills.
