Thaddeus "Ted" C. Korkosz

The simple life of a simple man, has made his journey back home. Ted Korkosz, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18th, 2020, just one day following his 85th birthday. He was surrounded by the love of his life, his wife Diane of 64 years, and his six children who he always said were his greatest accomplishments in life...his pride and joy. Survived by his wife Diane (née Schuch) and their children Ken (Heather) Korkosz of Cuenca, Ecuador, Debbie (Pat) Rancatore of New Buffalo, Michigan, Kathy Korkosz of Orland Park, Illinois, Tammi (late Jim Kanak) Korkosz also of Orland Park, Thomas “Tomas” Korkosz and Dyana (Ron) Pisani of Chicago, Illinois. He was the very proud grandfather/papa of Aimie (Mike) Dempsey, Todd (Katie) Korkosz, Erik (Megan) Rancatore, Nathan (Jillian) Rancatore, Kelsey Rancatore, Giacomo and Charise Pisani. He was honored to be the great grandfather of Michael and Delainey Dempsey, Ava Korkosz and Flynn Rancatore. Born and raised in Chicago, a resident of Bonita Springs, Florida since 1985, Ted and Diane have enjoyed their Florida family at The Bonita Beach and Tennis Club while never forgetting their family and friends in their hometown of Chicago. Above all, Ted loved his family and extended family beyond words. He was an active resident of The Beach and Tennis Club where he served on the Board of Directors, called Sunday Bingo, maintained a handyman service and loved his “Winey Wednesdays”. He could be found many Fridays at the Naples-Fort Myers Dog Track for his favorite $1 hot dogs and beer night. He always loved gambling at the Ching Ching and relaxing on his lanai while enjoying the beautiful views and playing Slotomania on his IPad. He had a love for music and dance, especially the Golden Oldies and Ted and Diane were our own Fred & Ginger. He rooted for all the Chicago sports teams but the Cubs were his favorite. Ted’s passion for cooking grew over the years and he loved to share his creations with neighbors and friends. His home was always open and all were very welcomed. His zest for life was contagious and he touched everyone’s hearts in his own unique way. Ted was a respected and dynamic force in the retail industry for over 30 years moving his family across the country and finally returned to Chicago until his early retirement from Ben Franklin Stores in 1985. Once he “retired”, he found himself busier than ever helping out his son, Ken, with a landscape business and establishing his own “B&T Handyman Services”. Everyone who came to know and love Ted will miss him dearly. The Korkosz Family is beyond grateful for the compassionate care given to Ted in his final days at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a service for Ted will be held at a later date.
