Ann Whiting Elliott

Ann Whiting Elliott died peacefully on July 14, 2025 at hospice in Naples, Florida. She was the wife/widow of Charles K. Elliott, to whom she was happily married for 63 years. Ann was born in Manila, Philippines, in 1934 while her father, Admiral Francis E. M. Whiting, served a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in Asia. After attending ten different elementary/high schools, necessitated by her father’s naval career, she graduated from The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y in 1952 and then attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, MA. Her employment career centered on administrative assistant positions at the Irvington and Mt. Pleasant/Cottage schools in Westchester County, N.Y. She retired from Mt. Pleasant School in 1993. In a bit of coincidence, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott retired to Mount Pleasant, SC and embraced both the city of Charleston and the culture of the area and were active in their community. They also started a tradition of luring their children and grandchildren to warm locales. Mrs. Elliott was an avid tennis player and was an instrumental player on the South Carolina over 70 Senior State Championship Team. Mrs. Elliott moved to Naples, FL in October 2019 where she has had many friends and continued to get visits from her children and grandchildren. Ann Elliott was a tireless contributor to her children’s upbringing, volunteering at their various schools, hosting activities at her home and generally being involved in their school activities. She was also a generous and gracious host to many of her husband’s and children's friends. Everyone felt welcomed by Ann. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and a grandmother who took delight in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. Family came first for Mrs. Elliott, while a close second was her massive generosity to everyone she met. And, of course, her beloved canine friends. Mrs. Elliott is survived by her three children: Catherine Mitchell (Patrick) of Naples, FL., Lisa Havemeyer, of Madison, CT., and James Kindred of NY, and six Grandchildren: Bradford Mitchell, Margaret Mitchell, Paige Kronauer, Nicole Kronauer, Alice Elliott and William Elliott. The funeral service will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Irvington, N.Y. on Tuesday, August 26th at 10am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edwards-Dowdle Funeral home in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home Family Owned and Operated Since 1978 in Bonita Springs, FL is in charge of local arrangements.
