Arlene Fraser Sniffen

Arlene Fraser Sniffen passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 12 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband John, Arlene was the beloved mother of Josh (Janet) Sniffen and Scott (Tracey) Sniffen and Gram to Taylor, Zack, Max and Emily. She was the only daughter of Gardner and Mazie Fraser and leaves behind two of her three brothers, Donald and Alan. Her brother Gardner predeceased her. Arlene grew up in Stamford, CT, attended Stamford HS and worked locally for the Southern New England Telephone Company as well as Pitney Bowes. She was also quite creative and taught ceramics to many locals in the Stamford area. Arlene was a selfless, positive ray of light and never had a bad word for anyone. She always greeted you with a smile, had a sarcastic sense of humor and infectious laugh. A loving individual and simply known as "Gram" to all four of her grandchildren, she was always eager to hear of their accomplishments, offer advice or simply offer a shoulder to cry on. Arlene was a loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews and an incredible friend and neighbor her entire life. In retirement, she and John split their time between Southbury, CT and Naples, FL. A beach lover, Arlene enjoyed so much of her time on the shores of Naples and Ft. Myers Beach, enjoying friends and playing with her grandchildren. Arlene, who will be missed by all who knew her, was that rare person who embraced life and people with enthusiasm. Her pride in her family and their accomplishments was always evident and she was truly engaged and interested in their lives. All will miss her patience, selfless demeanor, enduring support and skill as a good listener. Most importantly, we will miss her vivid presence and sparkle. As a family, we will strive to view the world through her eyes and conduct our lives in the most positive, generous, loving manner, just the way Arlene did, always.
