Bruce David Seaman

Bruce D. Seaman, 80, of Bonita Springs, FL and a former resident of Windsor, CT departed for his next journey on Thursday, March 23, 2023 after a brief illness. Bruce is survived by the love of his life Carol L. Seaman of Bonita Springs, FL and his daughter Kelly (son in law Robert) Cushing of Naples, FL. Bruce is predeceased by his beautiful daughter Kimberly Meltzer, his parents Thomas Seaman and Welle Farnham, his stepmother Beverly Seaman, siblings Thomas, David, and Sherry, mother and father in law Elizabeth and Harrison Leete, son in law Scott Meltzer, and brother in laws Jack, Michael, and Paul along with several friends he missed dearly. He is survived by his 3 beautiful grandchildren: Ashley Rose Meltzer of St. Petersburg, FL Brady David and Elexa Grace Cushing of Naples, FL. He loved spending time with them throughout their childhood and being there for many fun occasions. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends who all touched his life in some way. Bruce was born in Hartford CT on March 31st and is a graduate of Bloomfield High School class of 1961. During his younger years, you could always find Bruce enjoying his fast cars on the Berlin Turnpike and working several jobs to save for his future. Upon graduating, Bruce joined the United States Air Force where he served for several years conditioning men for combat and escorted several service men to Arlington National Cemetery when they would need to be laid to rest. Once his duties in the Air Force were fulfilled, Bruce’s love of planes continued on and he began a long, successful career at United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney that he was very proud of. Bruce was a key player in helping build engine parts for commercial airlines, fighter jets and space shuttles, eventually working his way up to Director of Operations before retiring after 33 years. When he would board a plane, one of the first things he would do is look to see what kind of engines were on the plane and say, “Yup we’re good-those are Pratt and Whitney engines.” Bruce spent 58 wonderful years with Carol and had many beautiful times with her. It included travels to Aruba, St. Maarten, and San Francisco, taking a casual drive, going to dinner, or just having a Saturday night steak and relaxing together after a long week. His girls were his pride and joy, and he always did whatever it took to take care of his family. He also loved spending time with the large family he married into and always enjoyed a good get-together for picnics, vacations, or holidays with them. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn, waxing his corvette, attending car shows, playing tennis, and traveling to many places including Sebago Lake, Maine, Higgins Beach, Maine and Newburyport, MA. After retiring from Pratt & Whitney, he and Carol packed up their house in Windsor and decided to get out of the cold and move to the sunshine state. He spent 15 years enjoying his time in Village Walk and you could find him sitting on his lanai enjoying the beautiful view from their home or watching golf and NASCAR on TV. He would always say “It’s another sunny day in Florida!” Bruce made many wonderful friends, joined the Eagles Club in Bonita Springs and the men’s golf league. He became quite the golfer while still enjoying his time tending to plants and waxing his car. He and Carol enjoyed many days at the beach or pool, went on cruises, shopped, danced, enjoyed functions at the clubhouse, and continued to laugh through life together up until the very end. He was so proud of his wife and always said she was doing a great job while tending to him during his illness. Bruce was a quiet, kind, loving, and hardworking man who always did what he could for people and never had a bad word to say. You could always find a smile on his face and he was always ready to give one of his famous hugs and had the best laugh. He was a very private person and never wanted the spotlight on him. Per his request, Bruce didn’t want services but instead, please remember him with a special memory and the good times spent. The family will hold a small private dinner later to toast him and the amazing man he was. He loved animals and golf. Donations can be made to the Humane Society or The First Tee program in his memory. Thank you to the doctors who helped him through this challenging time and the great staff at Naples Community Hospital North Naples who helped him transition comfortably. Bruce will be missed dearly. There is no replacing the special husband, father, papa, brother, and friend he was. Rest in peace until we meet again.
