Constance Rosemary Sullivan

Constance Rosemary “Connie” Sullivan, 92, of Marco Island, Florida passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Connie is survived by her four daughters and their husbands - Denise and Tom Morrison of Marco Island, FL, Maggie and Jay Wilderotter of Zephyr Cove, NV, Colleen and Dave Bastkowski of Naples, FL, and Andrea and Rob Doelling of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren and spouses - Michelle and Jimmy Chenery of Midlothian, VA, the late Kelly Eskridge of Dublin, OH, Chris and Rosy Wilderotter of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Danny and Chelsea Wilderotter of Dallas, TX; plus 10 great grandchildren. Connie was born an only child to the late Agnes and James Shields in 1933. Her Mom gave birth to her at their Elizabeth, NJ home during a party which seemed very fitting that Connie would be the “life of the party.” She certainly was! Over the years, Connie also lived in Jersey City, Avon, Elberon, Short Hills, and Morristown, NJ, as well as Pepper Pike, Indian Hill, and Cincinnati, OH as she supported her husband’s career. Connie went to St. Aloysius Academy in Jersey City and attended Asbury Park High School where she was a popular Cheerleader and Fashion Model featured in several top newspapers and magazines. She was stunning and won her first Beauty Pageant at age 15 (oh, and she would want you to know that the runner up was 28 years old). Even at 92 years old, she was still a Fashionista wearing sparkly, coordinated outfits and looking totally pulled together. Connie was happiest when she was with her family. She was married to her true love, the late Dennis James Sullivan Jr., for 61 years. When asked “why Dad”, she would say “Once you have gold, you cannot settle for silver.” As a mother, Connie played an important role in the lives of her children. She encouraged them to be their best and preached that her daughters could accomplish anything that they truly set their mind to. As one of the top real estate agents and a Million Dollar Club achiever at Selby Real Estate in Deal, NJ, Connie led by example that moms can have fulfilling careers too. Some of her daughter’s favorite memories include how Mom made their Halloween costumes each year; how “Casino Connie” loved to play the slot machines; Connie also loved to dance, play basketball, bargain shop, eat chocolate, and binge-watch TV crime dramas. When asked, in what ways are your children like you? Connie would say: • When Denise makes a speech, she sounds just like her father. Denise loves her mother like I loved mine. • Maggie looks like me. We both demand great service; she is smart and has a great memory like her dad. • Colleen is organized! We are both planners and pack way ahead of our trips. She has her dad’s corny sense of humor. • Andrea is sensitive and emotional. We both love to be dramatic! She gets her passion for animals from her dad. Please join us at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL 34145, on Wednesday, September 24. A closed casket viewing will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a mass to honor her life at 11:00 AM. A private gathering for immediate family will be held at a later date.
