Denis Krebs Dugan

Denis Krebs Dugan, aged 84, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Born on August 19, 1939, in Albany, NY, to the late Joseph and Dorothy Dugan, Denis was the cherished second son in a loving family. He attended Vincentian Institute and Diocesan HS, Brothers of the Holy Cross, graduating in 1957 before proudly serving in the Marines. His academic journey continued at Northeastern University, where he obtained a BS in Business Administration in 1964, followed by an MBA from American University in 1966. Denis's heart found its first match in Brenda Mary Aswad during a college break at Lake George. The couple wed on July 22, 1961, in Clinton Heights, NY, sharing a life full of love until Brenda's passing in 2015. Fortune smiled upon Denis again when he met Elizabeth (Ela) Maria Olech in Naples, FL, leading to their marriage on October 17, 2020. Denis is survived by his beloved wife, Ela; his devoted children, John Dugan, David Dugan, and Maryanne Trierweiler; his adored grandchildren, Chelsea, Patrick, Matthew, Thomas, and Anna Dugan, along with Zoe Trierweiler; his brothers, General Michael Dugan and William Dugan; his sisters, Kathleen Dolan and Joanne Mordhorst; his stepdaughter, Izabella Malyszek; and his step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Malyszek and Veronica Trotti, as well as his step-great-grandchildren, Mason and Liahm Trotti. He also leaves behind cherished cousins and a host of friends. His career was marked by distinction in the field of Information Technology, holding pivotal roles at RCA, IBM, DEC, General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Corporation, and ultimately retiring as the Chief Information Officer of Raytheon Engineers and Constructors. A life-long servant to his community, Denis's dedication to the St. Vincent de Paul Society spanned decades, from delivering Thanksgiving Baskets as a high school student in Albany to leading the largest SVDP Conference in Naples, FL. His commitment to service, spirituality, and community support through numerous initiatives has left an indelible mark on many. Denis was passionate about golf, literature, global adventures, and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends. His kind heart, laughter, and legacy of love and service will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. A wake is scheduled for Friday, 16 February, at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home in Bonita Springs, FL, from 11:30 AM to 1:15 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. In Denis's memory, contributions can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Naples, FL, or the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, family owned and operated since 1978.
