Dolores C. "Dee" Donnelly

Dolores C. Donnelly (Dee), wife of Wiliam McGrath, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Dee was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Mary and Joseph Morris. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Joseph and John and a great grandson, Ben Bibbee. She is survived by her husband Bill McGrath, daughters Mary Donnelly, Montpelier, VT, Suzanne (Steve) Jacksonville, FL, Dottie Donnelly Brienza, Naples, FL and Bernardsville, NJ, and Ruth Karaczun, Naples, FL. She leaves grandchildren Sarah (Jesse) Bibbee, Kelly Nicholas and Jeff Nicholas; Stephanie Karaczun, Danielle Karaczun (Jon Anderson), Carson Brienza (Bryn) and Gordon Brienza; great grandchildren Lily, Jack, Alex, Anna, Leah and Nina. Dee's three nieces including Sister Catherine Anne Morris SSCM also survive her. Dee is also survived by her husband's six children including Barbara McGrath, Madison, WI; Pat (Don) Otte, Poynette, WI; Katy (Chris) Morkri, Mount Horeb, WI; Mary (Perry) Guaglianoni, Decataur, IL; Joan (Murray) Shukar, Fitchburg, WI; Scott (Jenny) McGrath, Cardiff, CA; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dee was a graduate of the college of New Rochelle where she served as Class President. Dee began her teaching career at St. Anne's Academy in Wilkes-Barre, PA and worked as a staff member of the Girl Scout Council in PA. After moving to New Jersey, Dee worked as a Girl Scout Professional for the Delaware-Raritan Girl Scout Council. She is well known and loved in central New Jersey as "Mrs. D", the Director of various summer camps. She resumed her career in education, teaching in the Edison Township public schools for 20 years, receiving the Governor's recognition reward. Dee was active in the central New Jersey theater community as both an actor and volunteer. Dee retired to Naples in 1994 and became actively involved in the community. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving for 20 years as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. She was a professional lay Carmelite and served as Coordinator of the Bereavement Ministry and was a Grief Support Facilitator. She served on pastoral deanery and diocesan boards of the council of catholic women. She was a member of Catholic/Jewish Dialogue Steering Committee and served on boards to Call of Action and Voice of the Faithful. As a volunteer at the Collier County Jail, she was honored by the Venice Diocese for her prison ministry. Dee was proud of her Eastern Rite Catholic heritage and maintained her membership with All Saints Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in North Fort Myers. Her funeral will be celebrated on Friday, July 14th at 12pm (noon) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples with inurnment in the parish memorial garden.
