Donald C. Jensen

Donald C. Jensen, age 88, died peacefully on May 17, 2024. Don was born on August 21, 1935, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the parents of Ruth and Christian Jensen … he was immensely proud of his Danish heritage from his father Christian who emigrated from Denmark. He grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Mary Central High School in Menasha, Wisconsin in 1953. He was co-captain of his high school football team and was named to the 1st Team – All League Fox Valley Catholic Conference. A few years after high school, Don proudly served with the 1st Infantry Division (the BIG RED ONE) in Germany as an army cook. Don married his forever soul mate Mary Helen Denil in 1958, while attending the University of St Thomas under the GI Bill. He graduated from St Thomas in 1960 after the birth of their first 2 children. Don and Mary’s family include: son Mark Jensen (Cheryl), daughter Elizabeth Wagner (David), son Gregory Jensen (Tracy), son Stephen Jensen (Roula) and daughter Mary Jensen Eddy (Nils). He was a proud Bopa/Poppi to his 10 grandchildren: Alex and Tyler Jensen, Michael, Nicholas and Claire Wagner, Kelly and Christian Jensen, Jamie, Callie and Niko Jensen. Don and Mary have also been blessed with 11 great grandchildren and counting. Don spent his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant with the International firm of Ernst & Young. He retired as Vice Chairman after 30 years with the firm and eventually made Naples, Florida home. He was a member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and as a Treasurer. From a career perspective, he was proud of his accomplishments and his advancement from an Army cook to Vice Chairman of an International CPA firm. However, Don’s greatest gifts he cherished most was his wife of 65+ years and the pride of his family and his participation in the activities of his 10 grandchildren. He had an unrelenting work ethic, a good sense of humor and always made time for his family and friends. He had the unique ability to make everyone feel equally special and cultivated an endless list of lifelong friendships. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the entire care team from Ms. Daisy who for the past several years have provided so much support, love and compassion to Don and Mary. You are part of our extended family. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Don's name may be made to the charity of your choice. Tally Ho.
