Dorothea Ann "Dottie" Pecoraro

Dorothea Ann “Dottie” Pecoraro 66, of Bonita Springs FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 30, 2021, following a valiant four-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Dottie was born on August 14, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (née Longihitano) Canino in Queens, NY, and grew up in the Whitestone section of the borough. She had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2015 after previously residing in Henderson NV, Manalapan NJ, and Canarsie Brooklyn. Dottie attended St. Mel’s grammar school in Whitestone Queens and graduated from Flushing High School in 1973. After high school, Dottie worked as a paralegal and an administrative assistant for various companies in Manhattan, retiring in 2009. While working at Bristol Myers Squibb, she met the love of her life, John Pecoraro. In 1986 they married and remained happy and blissfully in love until her passing. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Dottie loved to travel and visited many wonderful destinations around the world with her husband. She was also an avid reader and often she would read up to four books a week. A tremendous joy of Dottie’s life was the relationships she had with her siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews and touched all of their lives in numerous ways. She is survived by her husband, John Pecoraro of Bonita Springs, FL; two brothers, James Canino and his wife, Cabrina of California, Joseph Canino and his wife, Nancy of Huntington Long Island; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Anthony Lovarco; three nieces, Laura Lovarco Bove, Kaprice Vargas, and Gina Canino; five nephews, Joseph Lovarco, Anthony Lovarco, Joseph Canino, Anthony Canino, and Matthew Truskiewicz; two great-nephews, Anthony Lovarco and Maverick Canino and three great-nieces, Ava Lovarco, Chloe Canino and Olivia Canino. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home 28300 S. Tamiami Tr., Bonita Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:00 AM St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 28300 Beaumont Rd., Bonita Springs, FL.
