Edward R. Rolquin

Edward Ray Rolquin, loving husband to wife Bonnie for 65 years, passed away, surrounded by his loved ones on April 30, 2014. He was preceeded in death by his Mother, Doris Eliza Rolquin. Born in New York City, he moved to Lloyd Harbor, New York prior to his move to Naples in 1971. He was an adoring Father to Debra Rolquin Saalfield (Steven), James Rolquin ( Monica), Pamela Sue Watson ( Gordon II), Skip Rolquin ( Julie), and Jeff Rolquin ( MaryJane). “Pops” was a loving and caring grandfather to Jamie Wiener (Chris), Kayley Stevens, Cassidy Stevens, Jeremy Rolquin, Clare Rolquin, Gordon Watson III, Trey Rolquin, Megan Rolquin, Shawn Rolquin, Brandon Rolquin, Christina Rolquin and Alexandra Rolquin. He is great grandfather to Harper Grace Wiener. His strong spirit inspired his family and friends that surrounded him. Ed was a World War II veteran and served in the occupation of Japan. He was honored by the Collier County Honor Flight the day before he passed away at Naples Community Hospital. The Collier County Honor Flight is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s War Veterans for all their sacrifices by transporting these Heroes to Washington D.C. for the day to visit and reflect at THEIR memorials at no charge to the Veteran. Although he didn’t make it to Washington, they came to him to thank him for his service in the U.S. Army. Ed, formerly of Huntington, New York, was a business entrepreneur who’s medical equipment companies set up hospitals around the world. His proudest business moment came when he was able to negotiate a deal with China to bring the Panda Bears to Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. Ed and Bonnie moved to Florida in 1971 and have been long-time residents of Naples and Bonita Springs. A memorial service for Ed will be held on Monday, May 5th at 10:00 at The First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a contribution be made to the Collier County Honor Flight, so that they can continue their mission of honoring our Nation’s Heroes.
