Elizabeth Zell Gordee

Elizabeth was born on April 7th, 1936 in Connersville, Indiana. She passed on October 13th, 2024 in Naples, Florida peacefully with family by her side. Elizabeth has lived her many years with vigor, always treasuring visits with her family and socializing with her many friends and acquaintances. Elizabeth is a microbiologist having graduated from Purdue University, with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, the University of Wisconsin with a Master of Science in Microbiology, and IUPUI with an emphasis on Medical Technology. She had worked at Upjohn Pharmaceutical Research, the University of California, Los Angeles, Eli Lilly and Company, and Winona Memorial Hospital during her lifetime. She had been a member of the American Society of Microbiology and the American Society of Clinical Pathology and co-authored scientific publications for Eli Lilly and Upjohn Pharmaceuticals. Elizabeth volunteered as a coordinator at the Cafe of Life in Bonita Springs, Florida. In addition to her educational and career accomplishments, her industrious nature always kept her busy. Elizabeth loved the outdoors, spending much time gardening, fishing, boating, snorkeling, and kayaking. Her homemaker skills were admired by anyone who spent time in the family’s home. She was a talented seamstress, attentive hostess, creative chef, skilled baker, and DIY extraordinaire. She has lived in Kentland and Indianapolis in Indiana, Los Angeles, California, and Bonita Springs, Florida. Elizabeth lived on after the passing of her parents (Russel and Norma Zell), and sister (Martha Ward). She has much Family living to carry on; husband (Robert Gordee), sons (Gregory and Bradley Gordee), Grandaughter (June Genelle Gordee), sisters (Virginia Gale and Margaret Robinson), five nieces, three nephews, and many others whose lives she touched. A memorial service will be held on November 11, 2024, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Road SE, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
