Elizabeth Anne Miller

Our beloved Elizabeth Anne Evans Miller, 91, passed on April 26, 2023 in Bonita Springs, Florida. Elizabeth was born March 1, 1932 to Ruth and Leonard Evans in Bellevue, Michigan. One of 9 siblings she was raised on a rural farm and educated in a one room schoolhouse. After graduating, Elizabeth went on to become a registered nurse. She began her nursing career at Percy Jones Army Rehabilitation Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was there that she met an army rehab patient....Reeder Miller. A true storybook romance evolved....they married in 1953 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bellevue, Michigan! Residing in Battle Creek, Michigan they had four children, Margaret, Dennis, Mary and Steven. They moved back to the countryside to raise their family. Elizabeth taught her children how to garden, preserve food (best strawberry preserves ever), cook (best blueberry pies ever), sew, craft, raise sheep, ducks and chickens. Elizabeth became a prominent 4-H leader in Calhoun County, Michigan. She guided many area children and taught them her skills of sewing, foraging, and creating. Later Elizabeth worked at Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan joining in a family legacy of Kellogg Cereal Employees with her mother, brothers and husband. In 1979 Elizabeth retired and they moved to Florida. She always missed the quiet beauty of the Michigan countryside, the ducks in her creek, the many birds at her bird feeder, and mostly her large extended family. She did grow to love the Florida sunsets and the year-round warmth. She became an active and devoted grandmother here in Florida and enjoyed watching her great grandchildren grow. As a devoted Catholic, she was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Bonita Springs. She appreciated the support, friendship and love of Father Jarek, Father David, Pat Connor and others for many years and especially in her final days. Elizabeth will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts. She was a stoic, dignified, kind, loving, caring, supportive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a good friend to many. Elizabeth's husband Reeder passed in 2018 and she is survived by her Children: Margaret Miller of Conyers, GA, Dennis Miller and Stuart of Madison, WI, Mary Devlin and Michael of Bonita Springs, FL, Steve Miller and Ching of Clover, South Carolina; Grandchildren: Maura Delago and Chris of Fort Myers, FL, Reed Carr and Stephanie of Oxford, GA; and Great-grandchildren: Kallen and Mia Delago Colton, Myleigh and Alyssa Carr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 9:30 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34134. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, Family Owned Since 1978.
