Elsillia Nobile Thomas

Elsillia (Ellie) Nobile Thomas, 94, of Estero, FL, died April 30, 2023, at her residence. She was born August 20, 1928, in Columbia, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Carmella Nobile. A former resident of Madison, NJ, she has resided in Southwest Florida since 1991. Ellie married her beloved husband, Charles Robert (Bob) Thomas in 1950. As Bob’s career evolved, she created homes for her family in Holland, Germany, Sicily, Brazil, and England, as well as in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Ellie was a devoted mother of five children and grandmother of three who was always there in times of family crises. More than that, she created an appreciation for the beauty in life in her children. As an art major in college, she used the opportunities travel afforded to introduce her children to cultural experiences that would impact them greatly. Her love of God was a constant and she reflected that by her actions. She set an amazing example with her love of family and the community. She often did volunteer work, giving respite to caregivers and visiting the sick. She was a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community. She is survived by one son, Eric Aubrey Thomas; two daughters, Barbara Thomas, and Sandra Oglesby; three grandchildren, Charles Michael Thomas, Stephanie Kasloski, and Liam Bryant-Thomas and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Ella. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Thomas, in 2019; ten brothers and sisters; her son, Charles Stephen Thomas; her daughter, Marianne Thomas and her grandson, Zachary Thomas. The family would especially like to thank her caregiver, Juditte Jean, for her compassionate loving care, gentle patience, and kindness. She was an angel sent by God. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held June 24th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Ft. Myers, FL 33967. Burial will be held in the Church Memorial Garden. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Parish Center.
