Gabriel J. Horvath

Gabriel J. Horvath, 75, of Cleveland Ohio, residing in North Naples Park, peacefully passed away June 9th, 2020 at Life Care Center of Estero. He was the husband of the late Nataśa (Koljanin) Horvath who passed in 1991. He was born on October 14, 1944 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), to the late Frank and Zdravka (Murat) Horvath. He grew up locally and graduated high school in Croatia. He emigrated to the United States along with his parents in 1967, settling in Cleveland, OH. His fianceé Nataśa Koljanin followed him and the two were wed in 1968. They settled in Cleveland, and were blessed with a daughter Melita in 1969. He worked for many years as a quality control agent in industrial tool fabrication until the factory’s abrupt closing. He chose never to retire, preferring to always have work and keep busy. He held many positions as he travelled through life including a soccer coach, substitute teacher, and sales for a paper company. Through the wonders of the internet, he met new people and friends who became family in Florida and decided to relocate in the 2000’s, becoming a permanent Floridian. Gabriel had many passions in life; chief among them was soccer and the World Cup. Should the game be televised and Croatia was playing, he would be enraptured as he cheered on his home team. He enjoyed annual family trips to St. Augustine, playing the piano, ice skating, rollerblading, and was interested in both cars and motorcycles. He is remembered by many as an excellent ballroom dancer and loved teaching others to ballroom dance. He loved playing bridge and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. Above all was the time he spent with his family and friends. Gabriel is survived by his daughter Melita (Horvath) Moir and her husband Gary of OH, Grandfather to Katicia (Moir) Baker and her husband Brandon of OH who now reside in Florida, Kevin Moir and his wife Chelsi of OH, Kara (Moir) Borron and her husband Micah of OH who now reside in Georgia, great grandfather to Asher Moir. Brother to Amil Horvath. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home Family Owned and Operated since 1978.
