George Arthur Wright

George Arthur Wright, 87, of Estero, FL passed away on September 28th, 2023 at the American House, Estero, FL. George was born on January 26, 1936 in Syracuse, New York and was the 2nd of three sons born to George Vernon Wright and Hilda Janet King Wright. He married Catherine Jean Clark on September 22, 1956 in Central Square, NY. George was a very proud US Marine and Korean War Veteran. During his life he worked in textile sales for firms in Western New York, finishing his career locally for Hadinger Carpets in Naples, FL. George is survived by his daughter Deidra Wright-Holmes and son-in-law Mike Holmes (Estero, FL), son David Wright and daughter-in-law Sheila (Saint Charles, MO), and son James and daughter-in-law Chris (O’Fallon, MO). George was proudly “Grandpa” – “Grandpa George” – and “Hoppa” to seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren: Laurie Wright (Richmond, VA), Kellie Lawson and Brandon (Naples, FL), Katie Lucas and Nick (Jamestown, NY), Nick Wright – USAF (San Antonio, TX), Kaela Wright (Saint Charles, MO), Brian Wright (O’Fallon, MO), Bradley Wright (O’Fallon, MO), and Kelly Holmes McCloe (Cape Coral, FL) and Kyle Holmes (West Milton, OH). In addition to his grandchildren, George had 6 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren: Camden Wright, Reese Lawson, Emrie Lawson, Finnley Lucas, twins Quinn and Reddick Lucas, and Aiden Farah, Madeline Holmes, Ashlyn Farah, Austin Farah and Ben Holmes. George was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years “Grandma Cathy”, his parents and his two brothers, Neal and Gary. To say that George was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather would be an understatement. He was a loving and caring gentleman who could melt your heart with his smile. He and Cathy are together again. A Celebration of Life for George will be held at Shikany’s Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, FL 34134 on Saturday, October 7th at 11:00am. A following luncheon is planned, and details of the location will be shared following this Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in George’s name to the Northside Naples Kiwanis Foundation, PO Box 110333, Naples, FL 34108. During his last two years of living with Deidra and Mike, George gained many new friends in the Kiwanis Family. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, Family Owned SInce 1978.
