H. Bruce Russell

H. Bruce Russell, 85, of Estero, FL and Canandaigua, NY, died on March 26, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1938, in Rochester, NY, the son of Margaret and Harold Russell. Bruce received his Boy Scout Eagle Award at age 14 and spent summers at Massawepie Scout Camps, beginning a long connection with the Scouts. He graduated from East High School in Rochester in 1955, followed by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 1959. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). He served in the United States Air Force at U.S. bases in France and Germany until 1964. Bruce married Susan Fine, originally from Oak Park, IL, on September 12, 1970, in Rochester; they raised their family in Pittsford, NY. He worked at Eastman Kodak Company in many executive roles during a more than 30-year career, and later led CoreNet Global, a corporate real estate association. Bruce received the Distinguished Eagle Award from the Boy Scouts in 1993 for achievement in his profession, as well as a strong record of volunteerism in his community. Bruce loved travel, adventures, watching sunsets on the beach, and spending time boating on Canandaigua Lake, his favorite place. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan; and his sister, Ann Nelson. Bruce is survived by daughters, Wendy (Eric) Tracy, Amy (Jesse) Litwak, and Julie Russell; granddaughters, Caroline Tracy, Julia Tracy, Sophie Litwak, and Anna Litwak; brother, Ted (Gina) Russell; and other family. In lieu of flowers, the family deeply appreciates contributions to a campership fund that will help young people experience Massawepie Scout Camps. Donations in Bruce’s name may be directed to Seneca Waterways Council, 2320 Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road, Rochester, NY, 14623; the family equally appreciates donations to the Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY, care of The F.F. Thompson Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627. A memorial gathering will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 28 in the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, NY. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, Family Owned Since 1978.
