Henrietta Genevieve "Henrie" Sigmund

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henrietta Genevieve "Henrie" Sigmund, age 83, of Fort Myers, FL, who peacefully passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at her residence. Formerly of St. Louis, MO, Henrie began spending winters in Fort Myers in 1992, and made it her permanent home in 2005. Henrie was born on November 14, 1941, in Walnut Ridge, AR. She attended Webster College in St. Louis, MO. An accomplished athlete, Henrie developed a passion for golf, accumulating six holes in one during her lifetime. She was an active member of The Forest Country Club, the LPGA Amateur Golf Association of Southwest Florida, and the USGA. Henrie also had a love for cooking and entertaining, but her greatest joys were being a devoted wife, mother, “Mimi”, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Charles J. Sigmund; her loving children, Elizabeth (David) Ross of Haymarket, VA, Charles (Eileen) Sigmund of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Deanne) Sigmund of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer Griffard of St. Louis, MO, Kelly (Michael) Shea of Chicago, IL, and Kristen (Cortland) Mater of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, Alexander (Taylor) Ross, Sean (Audrey) Ross, Erin Ross, Cara Ross, Kate Ross, Aidan Sigmund, Charles Sigmund the 4th, Jacob Sigmund, Jodi Sigmund, Leah Sigmund, Ethan Griffard, Noah Griffard, Rory Shea, Declan Shea, Noelle Mater, and Natalie Mater and two great grandchildren Ezra Ross and Remi Ross. Henrietta is also survived by her sister Ruth McKillip, brothers Lawrence Baltz, David (Jean) Baltz, Mitchell (Teresa) Baltz and many nieces and nephews. Henrie was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Genevieve (Thennes) Baltz, her cherished daughter, Catherine Murch, and two beloved grandchildren, Mitchell and Mary Claire Murch, her brothers Rev. Al Baltz and Ralph Baltz, and sister Judith Randall. Affectionately nicknamed “Saint Henrietta” due to her selfless nature, warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends, Henrie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and cherished memories. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33967, on Saturday, April 5 at 10:30 am.
