James Maurice Dunphy

It is with saddened hearts that we share James (Jim) Maurice Dunphy of Naples, FL passed away April 27, 2026. He was born December 14, 1933 in Houlton, Maine relocating to Connecticut at an early age. Jim married June (Mason) in 1958 sharing 67 years together. Family was paramount in his life. They were blessed with their daughter’s Lynn (husband Dan) Campbell, Laura (husband David) Lincoln, Andrea (husband Ray) Southland and Susan (husband Steven) Barker. Jim delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, Michael Perigard, Danielle (husband Jeff) Beaton, Levi Lincoln, Rachel Lincoln, Sophia Barker and great granddaughter, Rose Beaton. Jim loved to paint in oil, water and acrylic mediums. His work reflected his connection to and fascination with nature and the universe. Day time he masterfully captured its wonder by creating life like, beautiful cloudscapes. Evenings he looked toward the stars contemplating and marveling over the vastness of the universe. Jim had a brilliant, inquisitive mind and expressed his incredible creativity through his paintings and stain glass works. He was known to hide a tiny red cardinal within his canvas. His paintings were exhibited at Lyme Art Association juried events as well as other venues. Jim’s life was one of selfless service. Jim proudly served in the Marine Corp for which he received the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal, a member of VFW Post 4254 served as Quarter Master, Service Officer for the Post as well as the Bonita Springs American Legion Post 303 and President of his condominium Association. He is survived by his wife, June, his brother-in-law Jeff Mason, his sister-in-law Janet Mason, nieces Lisa Beltchev, Christine Mason, Karen Hamelin, Michelle (husband Phil) Wotjunik. He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Laura Lincoln, his sister Gail and her husband Bill Langevin, his brother Paul Dunphy, his son-in-law Ray Southland, a dear friend Steve Zimmer, his parents Dorothy and Kenneth Dunphy and his mother and father-in-law Evelyn and Lawrence Mason. As a tribute to Jim a supernova “brightest star in the universe” (never to set from the East Coast of USA) has been recorded as dedicated to him December 14, 1933, named James Maurice Dunphy, with the following message “His light shines brightly from the Heaven for all eternity.” Happy heavenly journey Jim, with Love June and all your family.
