James A. "Jack" Panozzo

James A. “Jack” Panozzo 83, of Bonita Springs, died peacefully on March 29, 2021 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. Jack was born on September 30, 1937 in Evergreen Park, IL the only child of the late Louis and Mary K. (Adducci) Panozzo. Jack was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 53 years Nancy J. (Valchant) Panozzo. He was a 20 year resident of Bonita Bay in Bonita Springs, FL until he moved, last May, to The Terraces in Bonita Springs, FL coming from Orland Park, IL. Jack was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and also served as a member of the Irish Guard where he would lead the Band of The Fighting Irish onto the field for each home football game. After college, Jack served in the United States Army Reserve and he joined his father in the family business, Doty–Panozzo Funeral Home in Roseland, IL. Jack served his community as a funeral director for over 50 years. Jack was a parishioner and daily communicant at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL. He was a 4th-degree member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Leo Council 8877. Jack was also a social member at the Bonita Bay Club and a member of the Bonita Bay Bicycle Club. Jack is survived by his three sons, James Panozzo and his wife, Sheila of Orland Park, IL, Kerry Panozzo and his wife, Lisa of Sarasota, FL, Jon Panozzo and his fiancée, Lauren Rozich of Bonita Springs, FL / Chicago, IL, 6 grandchildren, Tanner, Cara Bernhard and her husband, Paul, Enzo, Oscar, Alexander and Jake, and 1 great-grandchild, Charlotte Bernhard. A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church: 28300 Beaumont Rd., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. Additional services will be held in Orland Park, IL on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church: 14327 Highland Ave. Orland Park, IL 60462 where Jack was a former parishioner. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery: 6001 W. 111th St., Alsip, IL 60803 where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Nancy. The family suggests donations be made, in memory of Jack, to Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
