Jay Gordon Arend passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by the love of his family. Jay lived a life defined by hard work, service, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family and community. Whether through his business ventures, his public service, or his volunteer work, he believed in making the places around him better than he found them. Throughout his career in Wisconsin, Jay owned and operated several successful businesses, including Celestial Farms, Intevation Foods, Pizza Pit, and the Sassy Brass Bar & Grill. His entrepreneurial spirit, determination, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of those who worked alongside him and knew him throughout his career. After relocating to Southwest Florida, Jay continued his lifelong commitment to serving others. He was elected to the Bonita Springs City Council during the city's formative years and later proudly served one term as Mayor of Bonita Springs, helping guide the young city through an important period of growth and development. His dedication to the community extended beyond public office. Jay helped found Café of Life, a Bonita Springs organization devoted to serving those in need with dignity, compassion, and hope. It is especially fitting that his family will celebrate his life in a place that reflects the generous spirit with which he lived. More important than any title or accomplishment was the role Jay treasured most: husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared a lifetime of love with his beloved wife, Amy, and together they built a family that became the center of his world. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy, and his siblings Joyce, Jim, Joan, and Jan. Jay is survived by his loving wife of 72 years and best friend, Amy; his son, Mark and his wife, Tina; his daughters, Jaimee her partner Jeff, and Jill and her husband, Rodney; along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, treasured dogs and grand-dogs, a large extended family, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength. Jay will be remembered for his steady presence, his commitment to helping others, his love for his family, and his belief that a life is best measured not by personal accomplishments alone, but by the lives touched along the way. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the community he helped shape, and the countless people who were fortunate enough to know him. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
