Jill Brooke Viehman

On Friday, January 10, 2014, after 71 years of courage, adventure, setbacks and determination, Jill Brooke Viehman died peacefully at Lee Memorial Health Park Hospital, still cracking jokes with family and nurses. She had been a resident of Fort Myers, FL for 14 years. Jill, born March 8, 1942, daughter of William and Caroline Perl (Fonter) Muller, grew up in Chicago, IL. She attended Denver University where she became a member of the Sorority Kappa Delta and met her first husband, Thomas Brooke. During this marriage they moved to several different places before settling down in St. Louis, MO in 1971. Later she re-married, Skip, living in Creve Core and Wright City, MO, growing her family to 3 additional children and several grandchildren. Jill waited tables in college and later became a Personal Banker with Bank of America. Jill was a fun-loving, compassionate, kind, generous person, always doing and giving to others. It was most important to her that everyone was “happy”. She enjoyed glass and cooking classes, bridge, mah jong and hand and foot with her girl-friends. She was in Estero Newcomers and Encore, and took pleasure spending time with her dog, Cole with a glass of wine, but her favorite pastime was sitting on her lounge reading a book by her pool or attending the Palm Dinner Theatre. Jill saved everything. Jill’s loving family members include her children, Julie (husband Mark) Willman and Thomas Jeffery “T.J.” Brooke, and two treasured grandchildren, Kalee and Dane; and her devoted Woodle. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell “Skip” Viehman in 2010. While we’re grateful to many, our special thanks go to Rose Marie for driving her to her appointments and recognizing when she needed more attention, and to Chris and Carol for being there for us during Jill’s final hours, and to all of her wonderful friends too numerous to name. If you knew Jill, you were special to her. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Shinkany’s Bonita Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life immediately following at Coconut Jacks. Rather than flowers, Jill would have preferred donations to be made to Arc Animal Rescue, 18011 Old Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers FL, 33917.
