John J. Doran Jr.

John J. Doran, Jr., 90, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at NCH – Baker Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Born on May 6, 1935, in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late John Joseph Doran, Sr. and Amelia M. (née Scharff) Doran. He later made his home in Lake Grove, New York, for over 30 years. He split his time between Tamiment, Pennsylvania and Naples, Florida for many years and made Naples his full time home in 2015. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his lifelong sense of duty and dedication. While serving he met his commanding officer, Leonard Lauder and upon his discharge, Leonard invited John to contact him to find out more about his mother’s new cosmetic company. Following his military service, John built a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years with the Estée Lauder Company in Melville, New York. Through hard work and leadership, John rose to become Vice President and General Manager of Global Operations at the time of his retirement in 1998. John was very involved at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and when the Diocese approved the establishment of the new parish St. Agnes Catholic Church, he was among the founding members of St. Agnes. He was active with the Knights of Columbus at both parishes for over 27 years and served as Grand Knight for several years. He also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul for many years. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving children: Cathy Kothe and her husband Robert of Huntington Station, NY; Joseph Doran and his wife Robyn of Destrehan, LA; and Paul Doran (Denise Dillon) of Long Island, NY. He also leaves behind his two cherished grandsons, Ryan and Joshua, his great-grandson Bronx. He is further survived by his brother, Richard Doran and his wife Anne of Covington, LA, and his sister, Dorothy Hildman and her husband Jerry of Virginia Beach, VA. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris C. Doran; his parents; his brother, Robert Doran; and his sister-in-law, Annette (Doran) Korkus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow in the St. Agnes Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to either St. Agnes Catholic Church or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
