John Charles O'Reilly

John C. O’Reilly, also known as Jack, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at North Collier Hospital. He had been a resident of Bonita Springs, FL, since 2003, previously residing in Laurel Hollow, Long Island. John was born May 15, 1938 in New York City, NY, a son of the late Charles and Mary O’Reilly. He proudly served his country for six years in the National Guard. Jack O’Reilly was a builder in every sense of the word. He built a family he loved tremendously and a long, very accomplished career in the mechanical contracting and nursing home industries. As successful as he was in business, his passion in his life was his wife and family. At 19, he married his high school sweetheart, Arlene, who was the love of his life. They walked down the aisle on Oct.19, 1957, and danced to “True Love” at their wedding. Their marriage lasted almost 62 years. He was a devoted Dad to four children and a proud “Poppy” to ten grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He welcomed a daughter-in-law and three son-in-laws into the family and treated them as if they were his own. He enjoyed being "Uncle Jack" to four nieces and two nephews. He loved nothing more than kicking back with the kids, celebrating their milestones and achievements. The Christmas trips he took with his wife and family to Maui, Aruba, Antigua and the Dominican Republic were cherished times for him. Jack O’Reilly was a warm, kind, and funny man. Over his favorite raspberry martini, he loved telling jokes and stories with a smile and a twinkle in his Irish blue eyes. He could light up a room with his laugh and people naturally gravitated to his charm. Jack was a beautiful husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Everyone who was lucky enough to know him will dearly miss him. John is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Field) O’Reilly; his three daughters and one son, Susan (Michael) O’Reilly-Wolny, Kevin (Donna) O’Reilly, Allison Wysota and Karen Hartje. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Brittney (Brad) Igel, Meagan (Stephen) Damore, Derek (Alicia) O’Reilly and Brianna O’Reilly; Andrew, Austin and Addison Wysota; Haley, Nicole and Kaitlyn Hartje and his two great-grandsons Brandon and Ashton. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary O’Reilly; his siblings, Edward “Buddy” O’Reilly and Sheila Feghali; his brother-in-law Joseph “Joe” Feghali and his son-in-law Adam Wysota. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, 411 Old Town Rd., East Setauket, NY 11733. A committal service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Charles/Resurrections Cemeteries, Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bryant Funeral Home in NY and locally by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
