John Patrick "Sac" Sacchini

John (Pat) was born February 24, 1949 in Logansport, Indiana to Pete & Martha Sacchini, a loving Italian family. As a young boy, he attended St. Vincent DePaul grade school and was also an altar boy in the Catholic church. From grade school through high school, he was an accomplished athlete in football and baseball and received many honors playing middle linebacker for the Logansport Berries. Upon graduation from Logansport High School in 1967, Pat attended Ball State University as a music major. As many of you know, Pat had a tremendous love for music. In his adult life, he would teach himself to play saxophone in two weeks and go on to play in several bands. He took up the guitar and piano later on in life, but his love of music started out on the trumpet in the high school band and singing in the high school swing choir. As he would rather perform than sit in a classroom studying theory, he switched his major to elementary education where he received his BA in 1971. Much to the joy of his heart and the detriment to his knees, his athletic abilities allowed him to play the game he loved. He received a football scholarship and was an outside linebacker for his beloved Ball State Cardinals football team. While at Ball State University, Pat met a beautiful coed by the name of Cynthia Sue Taber. They married in July 1972. The two went on to start a home and family and were blessed with two wonderful children, Jon Krisstoffer (Kriss) and Courtney Elizabeth. In the true entrepreneurial spirit, John as he was now known in the business world, founded Energy Design Home Inspections which was launched in 1978. Energy Design became one of the premier home inspection companies in Bloomington, Indiana. Unfortunately, in 2007, cancer took Cynthia’s life after 35 years of happy marriage. Our gracious heavenly Father gave John another chance at love in his life when he met Malia McLaughlin. They were married in November 2014 on the beach in Cabo, Mexico. Malia, better known as “Mimi,” inherited six beautiful and beloved grandchildren. In 2018, John sold his Home Inspection business after 40 years and he and Malia retired to Bonita Springs, Florida. John Patrick is survived by his wife, Malia Sacchini, son: Jon Krisstoffer (Camille) Sacchini, daughter: Courtney Elizabeth (Adam) Summers, sister Barbara Jean (Bernie) LaBonte, Grandchildren: Myra, Sabrina, Grant, and Heidi Sacchini, Jaxton and Nico Summers, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of life will be held on May 15, 2021, between 11:00 am - 4:00 pm in the Eagle's Nest at The Golf Club at Eagle Pointe. 2250 E Pointe Road, Bloomington, IN 47401.
