Kenneth D. Hansen

Kenneth D. Hansen, age 79, passed away in his home in Fort Myers, Florida on April 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Norma Hansen. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores. Ken’s legacy continues through his son, Andrew Hansen, and daughter-in-law, Robin Hansen. He has two granddaughters, Meredith Hansen and Catherine Hansen. Ken was born in Chicago, IL, on November 9, 1946, where he lived until he was in seventh grade. He moved to Libertyville, IL, and graduated from Libertyville High School in 1964. He is a 1968 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, OH, where he earned a B.S. in Business. Post- graduation, Ken was drafted by the United States Army. His duty brought him to Heidelberg, Germany, working for U.S. Army, Europe (USAEUR) and the Seventh Army. During his service, he returned to marry Delores Hansen on October 11, 1969. She returned to Heidelberg with him while he completed his term. Upon his return to the United States, he and Delores settled in Memphis, TN. On May 25, 1971, Ken and Delores welcomed Andrew into the world. In the mid-1970s, he and his family returned to the Chicago area. Over the course of his lifetime, Ken worked in sales and as an entrepreneur and business owner, swapping those roles multiple times. His last job before final retirement was as the Sales Manager for Aston Martin. He was quoted as saying, “I don’t think any is business easy. It’s tough, but you treat people like you want to be treated.” This sentiment was one of his key common-sense approaches to life. During his retirement, Ken was well regarded within the neighborhood as he joined the community board. Ken will be truly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Community in Ft. Myers, FL.
