Kenneth Charles Woolbert

Kenneth Charles Woolbert of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on June 13th, 2018. Ken was born on April 17th, 1943 to Kenneth Jerome and Alys Woolbert of Trucksville, PA. Ken would later be followed by sister Ann, whom he loved dearly. During Kens early years he found a love of baseball and golf. He could often be found hitting golf balls in the apple orchard behind his parents’ home, much to the chagrin of his parents. He often told stories of caddying at Lehman Golf Club, mostly about carrying “doubles” and working multiple rounds. Ken would go on to attend Lycoming College where he soon met Jane Edwards, who would become his wife and lifelong partner. Ken played baseball at Lycoming as a pitcher, but soon gave that up to play on the golf team and continue his love of the game. Upon graduation from Lycoming, Ken and Jane married and resided in Northern Virginia. Ken worked for Hazelton Labs, and continued his love of the outdoors; enjoying fishing and hunting… and of course golf. Soon Ken and Jane had two boys, Chris and Doug. They were loved and would become his pride as family was always first to Ken. Ken would go on to work in Human Resources in the Philadelphia area and then Northern New Jersey for First Penn Bank, TRW, and UNUM. Ken had a gift with business, people, and communication. As he continued his career and moved to different places he would continue to play golf, making new and lifelong friends at Reading Country Club, Bowling Green Golf Club, and Newton Country Club. Throughout this time, he would begin to accumulate what would become a staggering 5 holes in one, shot a 69 at Fiddlers Elbow Country Club, and took pleasure in teaching his sons, and later his wife, the game of golf and the many lessons that accompanied it. Ken would have the opportunity to retire in his mid 50’s, which allowed him to enjoy life and family. Ken’s first priority in life was his family. He and Jane watched sons Doug marry Kerry and Chris marry Dawn. Ken loved watching his boys start their own families. Chris and Dawn soon welcomed children Casey and Ryan and Doug and Kerry welcomed their children Alyson and Jake. He loved them all dearly, took pride in them, and enjoyed watching them grow into the wonderful young people they are today. Kens family was his pride. In later years Ken and Jane moved to Estero, Florida full time. Ken embraced the good life and enjoyed his friends and the lifestyle at Pelican Sound. Many great days were spent in the company of dear friends, friends Ken loved as family. He became a parishioner at Hope United Presbyterian Church where he worshiped and found joy. Ken found the love of travel, and amongst his favorite trips was one with Jane and a group of friends to Scotland and St. Andrews. These trips would become memories of a lifetime. Ken leaves behind his wife Jane with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, his sister Ann Russin of Dallas, Pa, son Chris of Waldwick New Jersey along with his wife Dawn and children Casey and Ryan, son Doug of Cazenovia, NY along with his wife Kerry and children Alyson and Jake.
