Martin Paul Bartholomew Schmeckpeper

Martin Paul Bartholomew Schmeckpeper, 46, of Naples, FL sadly lost the battle against cancer Monday, March 20, 2017 at his residence and surrounded by his loving family. The youngest of five, he was born December 5, 1970 in Buffalo, NY to Robert Llewellyn and Jane (Conway) Schmeckpeper. After his mother and sister passed, his father remarried to Nancy Barry Stall Schmeckpeper and Martin was blessed to call her mom, as well as, gained 3 more siblings. Martin was raised in Naples, earned his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 2 under Scoutmaster Charles Scholten and was a graduate of Naples High School, Class of 1989. He entered the United States Navy in 1990 and served six years as a Machinist Mate, Second Class, receiving four Bronze Stars. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Martin stayed in Virginia and earned multiple certifications from Fuller School of Massage Therapy including his Instructor certification. In 2006, Martin moved back to Naples to be with his family and started working for Florida Cooling Supply, where he continued until shortly before his passing. He enjoyed playing poker while having a cigar and a Guinness, camping with his family, Dungeons and Dragons with his friends, and talking with his wife on the back deck. Martin’s personality drew people to him and created a family wherever he went, he will be missed by so many. Survivors include his loving wife, Elexia “Lexi” Carlin (Weigle) Hinote Schmeckpeper; step-sons, Taylor Bradley and Dylan Raymond Hinote; father, Robert L. Schmeckpeper; siblings, Christopher H. Stall, Melinda H. Stall, Christina H. Kobzina, Edwin R. (Wendelyn Bolles) Schmeckpeper, Eric J. (Debbie Maclin) Schmeckpeper, Jefferson A. (Pamela Fadden) Stall, and Laurel Sargert; nieces and nephews, Alec (Bronwyn), Aidan (Beth), Patrick (Catherine), Connor (Angel), Melita, Lisa, Jane, and Karl; Joyce Gilzow; father and mother-in-law, Bradley and Sarah (Campbell) Weigle; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane (Conway) Schmeckpeper; step-mother, Nancy Barry Stall Schmeckpeper; sister, Amy K. Schmeckpeper; and brother-in-law, Robert A. Kobzina. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2:00 PM- 3:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 4150 Goodlette Frank Rd., Naples, FL 34103. A memorial service with military honors will begin at 3:00 PM and refreshments will follow. In accordance with Martin’s wishes, please wear bright colored Hawaiian style shirts for his services. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Martin's memory to: Collier County Junior Deputies, P.O. Box 1833, Naples, FL 34106 reference: Martin’s Eagle Scout Grant.
