Mary Therese Zinn

Mary Therese Zinn, of Bonita Springs, died peacefully in the hospital early Thursday July 30, 2026. She was surrounded by her husband, her three children and best friend. Mary Therese was born May 17, 1954, in Detroit and grew up on the northwest side of Detroit. She graduated from Mercy High School and attended Eastern Michigan University. Her parents were Harry Thomas Wright and Della Marie Flaherty. He older brothers were Tom, Bob, Mike and surviving her, Jim. Her late sister was Anne-Marie. Her beloved children are Stephen (Anna), Jeremy (Veronique) and Katey (Kenji) of Naples. Her treasured grandchildren are Isabelle and Stevie in Michigan, and Zinnny and Hiro of Naples. Throughout her childhood and all of her life she made devoted, dear lifelong friends, that stayed near and very dear to her. Her bright personality, positive cheery spirit and thoughtful kindness gave her a special radiance beloved by family and friends. She so loved her family, being with them gave her the most joy! At the family cottage on Lake Huron, that her father built in the 1950's, and at Christmas-Eve family gatherings, birthdays and events for and with her children and grandchildren. With her sister Anne-Marie and cousin Mary Kae, they whipped up fun and special moments. Her career was wide and varied, beginning with corporate travel, including major international travel to Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Hawaii. Later she became expert in corporate destination management, then worked in sales for hotels and resorts. But her favorite work was in Senior Living; helping seniors and their families find a comfortable home for their loved ones gave her deep satisfaction. While she and Tom lived in the Washington, DC area, she worked for Spargo, a major meeting planning company. In Florida, Mary Therese worked in real estate, and the Trianon and Fairfield hotels in Bonita Springs. She also worked as the office administrator for Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Myers. She and her husband Tom moved to Bonita Springs to be near her daughter Katey and her family in January of 2020. They loved being very involved with the grandsons Zinny and Hiro. While staying in touch with the older Michigan grandchildren Isabelle and Stevie. Mary Therese courageously fought many significant health challenges. But following each one she worked hard to get back into shape. Including one year walking, with her husband Tom the first 6 miles of the Detroit Marathon. They crossed the bridge to Canada and returned under the Detroit River through the Detroit Windsor Tunnel. She loved sailing on Lake Huron and Grand Traverse Bay in Michigan and in Florida on the Gulf. She loved movies, calling them the show, theater and music. She became a fellow art collector with her husband Tom. Everyone she touched will remember Mary Therese for her warmth, her loving kindness, her style, her beauty, her devotion to friends and family, her patience and wit, and ready, beautiful smile. She had a deep, abiding belief in and love of God, and though we will miss her, she now becomes our genuine angel.
