Maureen B. Michael-Broitzman

Maureen B. Michael-Broitzman, 74, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. Born on February 16, 1950, in Elgin, IL, she was the cherished daughter of the late William Hawley and Barbara Jean (née Copley) Michael. Maureen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by love, faith, and service. A proud resident of Southwest Florida for the past 35 years, Maureen moved to Bonita Springs to embrace a vibrant life in a community she loved. After attending college, Maureen embarked on a successful career in finance, rising to become the head of Collections for GE Capital. She was admired for her leadership, tenacity, and work ethic. Maureen’s deep Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for 35 years, she actively participated in her spiritual community as a member of the Bible Study Fellowship, a Eucharistic Minister for the residents of Arbor Trace for over 15 years, and a religious education teacher. She also gave her time generously as a volunteer at the Café of Life in Bonita Springs. Maureen will be remembered for her compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Maureen is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Robert A. “Bob” Broitzman of Bonita Springs, FL; her two daughters, Heather E. Rooney of Texas and Alison M. Sanji and her husband John of Illinois; her step-daughter, Julie A. Franckowiak and her husband Chad of Illinois; and her three cherished grandchildren: Rocco R. Sanji, Joselyn “Josie” Franckowiak, and Wyatt Franckowiak. She is also survived by one brother and one sister, who, along with countless friends, will deeply miss her warmth and generosity. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Maureen’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception in the Parish Life Center to share memories and honor her remarkable life. Maureen will forever be remembered for her faith, selflessness, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her.
