Michael James Iacampo

Michael James Iacampo of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2025. He was 69. A proud first generation Italian-American hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Mike was a decorated Air Force veteran, multiple degree holder, and successful wealth manager — but also a committed philanthropist and humanitarian. He will be dearly missed. Son of the late Bernard and Antonette Iacampo (née Pistilli), Mike graduated from Cleveland’s Cathedral Latin High School in 1973. He was later inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame for achievements in basketball, football, and track. His multi-sport prowess earned him an athletic scholarship to the University of Kentucky. In 1976, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of Major over a 14-year military career. While serving as a Security Police Officer, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college. After attaining the rank of officer, Mike pursued a career in aviation, earning both navigator and aeronautical ratings. He ultimately rose through the ranks to become a KC-10 Aircraft Commander. Recognized among the top 5% of pilots in the Strategic Air Command, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his meritorious service. Mike furthered his education with a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of California, Riverside, and an MBA from the University of Southern California. He left the Air Force in 1990, and drawing on his experience in risk management and mission planning, transitioned into a wealth management career. After stints at several large Wall Street firms, he focused his financial advisory practice to give concentrated attention to his clients as a Managing Director at Naples Wealth Planning. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was a man of deep faith. His passion for education and philanthropy inspired him to raise millions of dollars for charitable causes and to personally fund tuition for dozens of at-risk inner-city youth to attend Catholic schools. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Paula Blackman Iacampo, and daughters, Christina Melcher (Bryan), Michelle Iacampo, Christy Thrasher, and LeAnne Thrasher-Chang (Blair). He is also survived by three grandchildren: Oliver Chang, Cade Chang, and Bernadette Melcher. A celebration of life will be held later this fall.
