Michael Patrick Zewalk

Mike was born in Akron, Ohio on November 15, 1937. It was there that he began his hat-blocking career (albeit short-lived!) and met and married his first love, Marilyn Faye Kish. They had five children: Michael, Melissa, Michelle, Mark and Matthew. Mike’s 34 year career with General Motors led him to twelve different locales, from Cleveland to Albuquerque, culminating at Executive Office in Detroit. He began as a claims adjuster in the insurance division and completed his career as Director of Educational Services. As a Director for General Motors Acceptance Corporation, he traveled throughout the United States and abroad. In 1996, he was named Man of the Year by the Association of Finance and Insurance Professionals. Mike’s sunny and comical disposition served him well in all his endeavors, including securing the hand of his latest love and wife of 32 years, Patricia Terebessy of Monroeville, PA. Mike and Pat retired to Naples, Florida 24 years ago. They immediately joined Imperial Golf Club where Mike fervently began working on his golf game. There, he served on the board three times and was elected President twice. Mike is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Margaret; first wife, Marilyn; oldest son, Michael; and his sister, Margaret and brother-in-law, Joe Guenther of North Canton, OH. He is survived by his wife Pat; daughter, Melissa and son-in-law Robert Wadsworth of Weddington, NC, son, Matthew and daughter-in-law Paulette of Butler, PA, son, Mark and daughter-in-law Katie of Waxhaw, NC, daughter Michelle and son-in-law Mike Pope of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Martin Zewalk and sister-in-law Nancy of Naples, FL, brother, Mark Zewalk and sister-in-law Joyce of Tampa, FL; wonderful and talented grandchildren, Graham and Maggie Wadsworth, Tristan Zewalk, Zachary and Sophia Zewalk and Madeline, Eva Marie, Michael and Nina Pope; sister-in-law, Sue McAdoo and brother-in-law Gary of Jupiter, Florida, brother-in-law, Mike Terebessy and sister-in-law Audrey of Oakmont, PA, brother-in-law, Jeff Terebessy and sister-in-law Sandy of Crossville, TN, and sister-in-law, Dee Kehlert of Plum, PA; many incredible nieces and nephews and several very special and long-time friends. Mike began every day with a smile on his face. His happy disposition shown through even in his final days. Mike accepted God’s will with grace and was called home on September 29, 2023 from the effects of a cancerous brain tumor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 am.
