Nancy Jane Foley

Nancy Jane Foley of Bonita Springs passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 7, 2016.at NCH North, in Napes, FL. She was born on April 29, 1928 in Emory, GA and was the daughter of Robert Keith and Margaret (Worman) Thompson. Nancy was a graduate of Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, VT. After graduation she moved to Boston, MA where she met her future husband, Oren S. Foley. He was a student at Northeastern University having just completed his tour of duty with the US Marine Corps. Upon graduation, they were married in Christ Church in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA and moved to Syracuse, NY where her husband was employed with General Electric. His career with General Electric eventually brought them to Novelty, OH, a suburb of Cleveland where he worked until retirement. In 2000, they relocated to Bonita Springs, FL at Highland Woods Golf and Country Club. Nancy was an avid bridge player and golfer and served on a variety of event committees at Highland Woods. She actively served the Lord as a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Bonita Springs and Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church in Naples. She dedicated countless hours volunteering at her churches for Altar Guild, Vestry, Evening Prayer, Cursillo, fundraising events, office support, and the healing prayer ministry of the Order of St. Luke. Nancy regularly volunteered at Hope Hospice - Joanne’s House in Bonita Springs. Nancy was known for her stylish, elegant appearance, her thousand watt smile and her endless energy. Nancy was pre-deceased by her sister, Barbara Ward and her loving husband, Oren Foley, and leaves behind two nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces and three great nephews. A Requiem Eucharist Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 14, 2016 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 9801 Bonita Beach Rd, Bonita Springs, FL. Burial will follow at Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church, 553 Galleon Dr., Naples, FL about 12:30 PM with a reception in the Parish Life Center immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations in the honor of Nancy J. Foley may be made to a favorite charity or to the following: St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 1923, Bonita Springs, FL 34133-1923; Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church, 553 Galleon Dr., Naples FL 34102; or Hope Hospice – Joanne’s House, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
