Norma J. Stohler

Norma J. Stohler Bonita Springs, FL Norma Stohler died peacefully and at home on March 12th, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was 85. Norma was born July 30th, 1928 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Doris (Marlatt) and Eugene Brown of Hagerstown, IN. She graduated from Butler University in 1950 where she was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart and fellow Butler graduate L. Gene Stohler on June 18th, 1950. Norma and Gene were married for over 63 years and lived in Bloomfield Hills, MI for the last 45. They have resided winter months in Bonita Springs for 20 years and are blessed to have made many dear and cherished friends across the country. Norma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family and the happiness and smiles they brought her. She is survived by her husband Gene, and her two daughters - Catherine and her husband Rick Beer, and Shelley and her husband Bill Risma. Norma was preceded in death by her son Mark, who passed in 2009. She is also survived by her brother Dick Brown and his wife, Gerri, and her brother Max Brown and his wife, Lennie. Norma was blessed with four adoring grandchildren - Mia, Justin and his wife Kayla, Tyler and his wife Katie Jo, and Cameron and his wife Alythea, as well as five beloved great grandchildren - Nolan, Mark, Kate, Parker and Penelope. Norma was a passionate golfer and active member of Orchard Lake Country Club (Orchard Lake, MI) and Bonita Bay Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. She loved competitive sports and was a passionate player and partner in all her pursuits. Among her many proud accomplishments was posting not one, but two ‘Hole In Ones’ at OLCC, much to her husband’s chagrin. But perhaps her greatest love over the years was her daily runs, and later walks with a beloved dog. Her loss will be deeply felt by her golden retriever, Clover. Norma was loved for her quick wit, crazy antics and contagious sense of humor. She loved using her artistic abilities to draft creative verse for friends, draw cartoon caricatures and oil paint. Norma never failed to make you smile whether on the fairway, tennis court, or among pals. She was a dear friend to many, and will be missed by all those that knew her.
