Patricia E. Zetwick

Patricia Elizabeth Zetwick, 84, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on April 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Patricia was the loving daughter of the late James and Mary Byrne, sister to the late Mary Byrne, Anne McCarthy, and James Byrne, and wife of the late Michael W. Zetwick, Born in Newark, New Jersey on July 18, 1938, Patricia (Pat) led a life of love, giving, and laughter. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband, her family, and her friends. She was raised in Hillside, New Jersey, spending her youth with her three siblings. Patricia and her sister Mary shared a special relationship, and they had beautiful memories together traveling, caring for each other, and enjoying life’s precious gifts. She proudly represented her Scottish heritage and always loved morning or afternoon tea while reading a book or watching a movie. Patricia met her husband Michael while in high school, and he proposed to her on her high school graduation. They were married in 1957. They moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio in the late 70s and made wonderful friends there. They were active members of the community, dining in downtown Chagrin, golfing at Chagrin Valley Country Club, celebrating Blossom Time, and socializing with friends and family. Pat provided Mike with a listening ear and guidance as he progressed throughout his career while creating a warm, loving, and fun home for her children (and their friends) as they made their way through school. Once her children were off to college, Pat pursued her dream of opening her own retail clothing shop in downtown Cleveland. P-Loft was a source of pride and love that brought her immense joy. She and Mike retired to Bonita Springs in the mid-90s and spent time traveling the world, boating, socializing at Bonita Bay Club, and enjoying all activities the area provides. Together they supported numerous charities across Southwest Florida. She loved her girl’s night out for movie night and book club, walks with her dog, Westly, and hosting family and friends in their home at a beautifully set dining table. Pat cherished visits with her children, and when grandchildren arrived, she showered each of them with love and support. She loved life and family but held a special place for her husband Mike. Together they held a beautiful partnership for 59 years that showed enduring love, patience, and support for one another. Pat’s will to live was demonstrated time and again in the past few years, and her will reflected how much she loved her family, friends, and all of God’s gifts. She will be missed and never forgotten. The family is so appreciative of her caregivers for the past six years, who day in and day out provided her compassionate love, care, and support. Pat loved each of you. The family is forever grateful for Kit, Julia, Ellie, and Vicki. She is survived by sons Michael (Ren), Christopher (Debbie), and James (Katy), daughter Mary (Joe), and grandchildren Rachel (Peter), Ryan, Kayla, Zachary, Allison, and Maria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 2:00 PM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church 28300 Beaumont Rd., Bonita Springs, FL. She will then be interred at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be reunited with her husband, Mike. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the San Damiano Monastery of St. Clare 6029 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 to assist in the recovery efforts from the damages caused by Hurricane Ian.
