Patrick D. Burke

Patrick Dennis Burke of Bonita Springs, Florida passed away on November 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1935 to Mary Francis and Patrick J. Burke. He was a graduate of Grosse Pointe High School in 1953 and Michigan State University in 1957 with a degree in engineering. Pat was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity and numerous brothers have been lifelong friends. After training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Pat served in France for two years, returning to New York on the S.S. America After serving in France, Pat worked for IBM and the Barden Corporation. This brought him to New York City where he met his wife of fifty-three years while weekending in the Hamptons. In 1970 they were married in Milwaukee, WI. The next move was to Ridgefield, CT where all three children were born. A new job at Hoover NSK brought the family to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Barb and Pat raised their children. Despite living in Ann Arbor, Pat remained a diehard MSU sports fan. Pat’s last career change was with Lear Corporation as VP of Marketing. Many of his Lear colleagues became family friends as well and Barb and Pat followed several to Florida for retirement. Pat was the beloved husband of Barbara Joys Burke, a devoted brother of William Burke. He was the loving father to his daughter Alison Burke Albers, and her husband Jeff Albers, of Wellesley, MA; his son Robert L. Burke and wife Jennifer Burke, of Castle Rock, CO; and son Patrick J. Burke and wife Jess Burke also of Castle Rock, CO. He was “Papa” to seven grandchildren: Jack, Patrick and Alec Albers of Wellesley, MA; Braden and Cali Burke of Castle Rock, CO and Hartley and Finley Burke of Castle Rock, Colorado. He was “Uncle Pat” to Patti Burke of Grand Rapids, MI, and Michael Burke of Florida; Jonathan Joys of Montana and predeceased William Joys; and a brother-in-law to David and Sandra Joys of Montana and Florida. The “Roundtable Group” who congregated daily to debate the state of the world was a source of strength this past year as well as other good friends who visited. Pat’s family will be forever grateful for the loyalty and support he received from his circle of friends. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home and Crematory Family Owned and Operated Since 1978.
