Rebecca "Becky" Harley

Rebecca Harley, age 51, lost her life tragically on November 3 2020 due to an aortic dissection. Known affectionately to the family as “Becky”, she was a vibrant and ever-loving presence to her husband, Bill and two treasured children, Alexa and John. Becky was a cherished big sister to Anthony (Amy) and David (Jennifer). She is survived by her mother, Barbara Goertz who will feel the profound loss of both a daughter and a best friend. Rebecca attended the University of Western Ontario where she was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She held the honour of being the first female golfer to play for the men’s golf team at Western before moving on to a career in professional golf. Becky married her soul mate, Bill, on the greens of the Hunt Club in her hometown of London Ontario, before relocating to Florida where the two continued their love story. Life held much joy for Becky as the devoted mother of Alexa and John. The whole of her heart belonged to her children and they are indeed her greatest legacy on this earth. As membership director at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Becky built a community of care around her fellow church members. Her warmth and outgoing personality made people feel instantly welcome and at home within the church family. Becky’s natural entrepreneurial talent was evident in her most recent business venture with her husband, Bill. The successful opening of their new restaurant in Orlando filled them with pride and much excitement for the future. This project saw Becky’s true sense of grit and fierce determination both tested and rewarded. As expected, Becky endeared herself instantly to her customers who will no doubt miss her remarkable sense of hospitality and her sparkling sense of humor. The family will be sustained by golden memories of Becky doing the things she loved; golfing, watching the Ray’s, playing board games and laughing. Her zeal for the magic of Disney and the excitement of sport was a common, unifying thread throughout the family. An inspired and skilled cook, Becky was most happy when gathered around the table with loved ones, particularly during the holidays. While taken from us far too soon, comfort can be found in the knowledge that Becky is reunited with her adoring father, Dwight, in God’s heavenly kingdom. As the family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember Rebecca in a private celebration of her life. There will be an open house on Friday, November 13th at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs where the family will receive visitors from 3pm to 5pm and again from 6pm to 8pm. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
