Robert Joseph Morello

Robert Joseph Morello 76 of Bonita Springs died Saturday January 21, 2017 in Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. He was born January 28, 1940 in Brooklyn NY to Anne Hanson Morello and Vincent Anthony Morello. He was raised with his sister, Mary Ann in New Hyde Park, NY. His family were devoted Catholics, attended church regularly and Bob served as an altar boy. Bob attended Sewanhaka High School where he was a drummer in the marching band and member of the varsity lacrosse team. It's also where Bob met his future bride, Irene, both of whom graduated in 1957. Bob married Irene, the love of his life June 3, 1961. Bob enrolled in the ROTC program at Hofstra University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree upon graduation in 1962. He went onto to fulfill his military obligation and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in the military police in Fort Knox, Kentucky. During this time, Bob and Irene's first child, Christopher, arrived followed by their daughter Cathy. After fulfilling his military obligation, Bob began his career in Banking and Finance with Citibank in New York City. He earned a Masters degree in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1972. He spent 20 years with Citibank where he traveled the World and seized the opportunity to relocate his family to live in Philippines from 1974-1976. He moved on from Citibank in 1984 and was a Senior Executive Vice President at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Investment Group. Bob's career culminated as a Managing Director at AIG Global Investments where he eventually retired in 2007. Bob and Irene raised Chris and Cathy in Armonk NY. Bob believed in civic duty and dedicated his private life to serving his community. When his children were young he was a Cub Scout leader, and volunteer Little League and Basketball coach. Bob served as a member of the Byram Hills School Board of Education for 4 years and was elected President in the fourth year. He was a member of Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk NY where he served on the board of directors. Bob and Irene enjoyed many fun years playing golf and tennis and attending the dances and social events at Whippoorwill with their large group of friends. Bob was also a member of Shadow Wood Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida, Stonington Country Club in Stonington Connecticut, Quonnochontaug Tennis Club and Weekapaug Golf Club in Rhode Island. A devoted family man, Bob, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at his homes in Rhode Island and Florida. Bob is survived by Irene, his Beloved wife of 56 years, sister MaryAnn Calabro, of Garden City NY, daughter Cathy Miller, and son in law, Robert Miller of Darien CT, son Christopher Morello, daughter in law Charlotte of Wilton CT, seven grandchildren: Lauren Miller, Douglas Miller, Christian Miller, Craig Miller, Katherine Miller, Meredith Morello, Matthew Morello, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday January 27, 2017 from 2:30 PM till 5:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 9:30 AM in St Leo the Great Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate in the honor of Robert J.
