Sylvia M. Holihen

Sylvia Marion (Ferranti) Holihen, 87 of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at the Villa at Terracina Grand Memory Care facility from Alzheimer's. Sylvia was born on January 13, 1935, to the late John and Anna (Simeone) Ferranti in Providence, RI. Sylvia graduated from Classical High School in 1952. After graduation, Sylvia started as a secretary and through her nearly 40-year working career, climbed the corporate ladder in both the worlds of Human Resources Management and Banking, retiring as Vice President of Operations from Coastway Credit Union in 1992. In 1979, Sylvia married her late husband, Edward M. Holihen, and adopted Ed's two sons, Kevin and Terry. As a family, they loved their time on Cape Cod, MA, their beloved dog Cala, many road trips, and Holy Cross College's home football games. In 1993, Sylvia and Ed retired to Naples, FL to enjoy their golden years in beautiful Southwest Florida. Sylvia enjoyed volunteering her time at the Naples Philharmonic, being a lector at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and playing mahjong with her friends. Sylvia was predeceased by her father John (1987), her mother Anna (1991), her granddaughter Gemma (2005), her husband Ed (2007), her granddaughter Terezia (2014), her sisters Antonetta, Isabel, and Jenny and brother Joe. Sylvia is survived by her sons, Kevin and his husband Jose (May) Macarayo of Oxnard CA and Terry, his wife Courtney (Abrahamson) of Palm City, FL, and their nine children; Juliana, Shane Edward, Ryan, Lucia, Elijah, Peter, Thomas, James and Mariella and Sylvia's beloved niece Karen (McCombs) and her husband Jack of Narragansett, RI who provided such loving support during her later years. The family would like to thank the staff at Terracina Grand and the Villa at Terracina Grand, and her care managers from My Care Manager for their care, love, and support during the past 8 years as their mother transitioned through the challenging phases of Alzheimer's. Sylvia's final years were filled with love and activities tailored to her needs and abilities. In lieu of flowers: donations can be made in Sylvia's memory to the Naples Philharmonic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
