Thomas J. Murphy

Thomas J Murphy, 72, of Estero, FL passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his residence. He was born May 22, 1949 in Chicago, IL. Tom was preceded in death by his late parents Thomas F. and Margaret M. Murphy, his sister Christine Marie and the mother of his children Jacqueline. Tom grew up in the west and northwest suburbs of Chicago. He moved to the Denver area, expanded his family and became black belt. He returned to Illinois to join his father in the fuel business. Tom joined the Chicago Oil Men’s Club and the Chicago Railroad Mechanics Association. Tom eventually branched out into his own business and developed a unique method of servicing locomotives. He owned and operated Murco Energies since 1997 and Mobile Rail Solutions since 2005. He was an avid fisherman, loved to golf and followed Chicago sports teams and financial markets in his free time. Tom will be remembered fondly as a kind and generous person. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving children, Christine Marie (Daniel) Murray of Roswell, GA and Thomas G. (Julie) Murphy of Cullom, IL, and his dear brothers and sisters James P. ( the late Gerri) Murphy of Bonita Springs, FL, Kathleen (David) Hoerer of Fort Myers, FL, Margaret M. (Steven) Kramer of Bonita Springs, FL, Gregory J. ( the late Linda) Murphy of Wauconda, IL, Karen M. Jacobsen of Bonita Springs, FL, Patricia A. Grimes of Bonita Springs, FL, Donna M. (Timothy) Healy of Island Lake, IL, Michael R. (Renee) Murphy of Barrington, IL, Robert V. Murphy of Lakemoor, IL, Timothy S. (Gloria) Murphy of Lake in the Hills, IL, Nancy A. (Bill) Hopper of Algonquin, IL, Dennis J. Murphy of Wauconda, IL, and Aunt Donna J. Griffin of Lake in the Hills, IL, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home. Additional services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery in Palatine, IL at 10:30A.M.on Friday December 3, 2021.
