Thomas J. O'Dea, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. Born on May 16, 1934, Thomas was the son of first-generation Irish Americans, a heritage he carried with pride throughout his life. The values of faith, family, hard work, and perseverance shaped the man he became and the legacy he leaves behind. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and was honorably discharged. His service reflected the dedication, responsibility, and commitment to others that he carried throughout his life. After leaving the Army, he began his career as a Mechanical Engineer. At the age of 40, he founded his own firm now known as OLA Consulting Engineers where he dedicated 30 years of leadership, expertise, and commitment before his official retirement. His firm recently celebrated its 50th anniversary which he was able to attend. He took great pride in the work he accomplished and the professional relationships he built throughout his career. An avid golfer, Thomas found great joy on the course and treasured the many friendships he made while playing at Mount Kisco Country Club in NY, and Shadow Wood Country Club in Florida. Whether enjoying a competitive round or simply sharing laughs with friends, golf was one of his greatest pleasures and a source of countless happy memories. Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roberta, who passed away on November 3, 2008, as well as his sisters Barbara and Rita. He is survived by his loving partner, Mary Eberhard, whose companionship brought him great happiness in the years that followed. She became a beloved member of our family. He is also lovingly survived by his six children: Thomas (Debbie), Daniel (the late Barbara), Mary (Paul), Patrick (Holly), Donna (Jim), and Michael (Jayme). He was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, with even more little ones on the way. Nothing brought him greater happiness than seeing his family grow. Thomas also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his friendship and generosity. Though he is no longer with us, Thomas' spirit endures in the hearts of those who loved him. His Irish heritage, military service, professional accomplishments, enduring values, love of family, and the friendships he cherished will remain his lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Beecher-Flooks Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, New York. A Funeral Mass celebrating Thomas' life will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John and St. Mary Church in Chappaqua, New York. The Mass will be followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
