William Lim

William Lim 95, of Bonita Springs, FL died on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. He was born on April 13, 1928, in Manila, Philippines a son of the late Lim Teck Suan and Uy Ay Tan. He had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1996 coming from Honolulu, HI. In 1949, he graduated from Colegio De San Juan De Letran High School. He later attended The University of Sancti Thomas and received his Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery on March 24, 1956. He was licensed to practice medicine in the Philippines on February 6, 1957. Dr. Lim then completed an Intern program in Youngstown, OH, a Medical-Surgical Residency program in Akron, OH, and Buffalo, NY, and a Pediatric Residency in Vancouver, BC Canada at St. Paul’s Hospital. He was admitted to the Medical Council of Canada through examination on July 8, 1966. He then completed a Residency in Psychiatry in Northville, MI at the Northville State Hospital. He became a citizen of the United States through Naturalization in 1975. He worked as a Staff Psychiatrist at Northville State Hospital until 1975 when he moved to Hawaii where he worked as a Staff Psychiatrist in the State of Hawaii, Department of Mental Health for 20 years. He was a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He retired to Florida in 1996. His hobbies included gardening, especially orchids. He enjoyed computer games, TV watching, and taking long afternoon naps. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth M. Lim of Bonita Springs, FL; two sons, William Edward Lim and his husband, Frank Lewandowski of Ypsilanti, MI, and James Stephen Lim of Durham, NC; one daughter, Cheryl Ronan and her husband, Sean Ronan of Oviedo, FL; two grandchildren, Kiana Herrera and Osean Ronan; his brother, Jose Lim of the Philippines and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home 28300 Tamiami Tr. S. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home.
