Bonnie E. Bucy

Bonnie Elaine Bucy, age 96, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away February 26, 2022, in Bonita Springs, FL. Bonnie was born on August 16, 1925, the daughter of Walter Leroy Evans and Winnie Shira Evans, in their country home in Leon, Iowa. Her parents were the Stewards of the Decatur County home. Bonnie attended grade school thru high school in Leon, till her graduation in 1942. She played Clarinet in the Marching Band. After graduation, she attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, and worked for Wallace Farmer “Iowa Homestead” and for the “Iowa War Chest”. Bonnie married Wayne Bucy, on March 18, 1945, at the Leon Church of Christ in Leon, Iowa. They were married 76 years. They were both baptized and lifelong members of the Church of Christ. Bonnie retired before the birth of her first child in 1952, to become a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, baking, and sewing. Throughout their marriage, they lived in many places, due to Wayne’s employment with the Airlines. They lived in Germany for 8 years and Australia for 5 years, eventually retiring in Renton, WA. Bonnie was an avid tennis player until she was 85 years old. In 1998, they moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ, where she began volunteering for Hospice, and in 2004 moved to Bonita Springs, FL to be near family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gale Evans, and wife, Jeri of Cherokee, IA, and Doyle Evans and wife, Margaret of Kansas City, MO. Bonnie is survived by her 2 children, Carolle Lynne Kinney (Bucy) and her husband Robert of Bonita Springs, FL and Jeffrey Wayne Bucy and wife, Dena of Loveland, CO; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tamra, Amber, and Karah; 9 great-grandchildren, Chandler, Jaxson, Rocco, Dylan, Katie, Alyssa, Remi, Brody, Layne; 2 step-grandchildren, Rodney and Shannon and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Alex and Weston. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home 28300 S. Tamiami Tr. in Bonita Springs, FL. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at a later date in Leon, Iowa at the Leon Cemetery.
