Charles R. Peyla Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles R. “Chuck” Peyla, 89 of Estero, FL passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. Formerly of Joliet, IL he began wintering in Estero in 1999 before moving permanently in 2005. Charles was born July 3, 1932 in Joliet, IL a son of the late Louis R. and Caryl (Buck) Peyla. Mr. Peyla was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, earning his degree in business administration. In the early 1960’s, together with his brother, Chuck founded Illinois Securities Insurance in Joliet, spending his career as a broker until his retirement in 2005. Chuck served on the Board of Directors from 1973 – 2004 for the First National Bank of Joliet. He was an avid golfer and member at the Estero Country Club at the Vines, Joliet Country Club and Morris Country Club. Chuck also enjoyed reading, swimming and exercising. Survivors include his beloved wife of 31 years, Patricia A. (Franklin) Peyla; loving children, Scott Peyla (Terry Stead) of Fort Myers, FL, Lynn (Tim) Lockhart of Las Vegas, NV, Dustun R. (Nancey) Peyla of Junction City, KS; son-in-law, Steve Aimaro if Fort Myers, FL; and cherished grandchildren, Breana, Jordyn, Charlie and Eli; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Leah Peyla in 1991 and Suzanne Peyla-Aimaro in 2021; and siblings, Louis R. Peyla and Marylou Jackson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33967. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Chuck’s name may be made to Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
