Dorothy Ann Hogan

Dorothy A. Hogan (neé Swanson), 82, of Estero, passed away at home on May 27, 2020. She was the wife of the late William M. Hogan. Dorothy was born on September 27, 1937, in Chicago, IL, to the late Eugene and Beatrice (neé Polson) Swanson. She grew up locally and graduated from area schools. She relocated to the suburbs of Oaklawn to raise their family where they resided for over 20 years. Along the way they were blessed with three children. Once their children had left the nest, she moved to Palos Hills until her retirement. Dorothy became a Floridian in 2001, permanently settling in Estero. Dorothy had many passions throughout her life. She loved visiting the casino, playing bingo, travelling with family, and enjoying their summer condo in Wisconsin. Above all was the time she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Karen Bywater (neé Hogan) and her husband Greg of FL, and Pamela Camarena of IL. Grandmother “Dodie” to Lauren, Jessica, Christopher, Brianne, Jimmy, and Josh. She also leaves her niece Angela and nephew Gene. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late William M. Hogan; her son, the late James “Jim” Hogan; and her brother, the late Eugene Swanson. Services will be held at the convenience of the family on a date to be announced. Arrangements being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home Family Owned and Operated since 1978.
