Dorothy June Jackson

Dorothy June Jackson, 103, passed away July 9, 2019 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice Bonita Springs, FL. Born in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, she was predeceased by her father William James Bowerman and mother Florence Anna Thomas Bowerman, son Ronald Jay Jackson, daughter Suzanne Bettie Costello, husband Frederick Jackson and sister Bettie Naomi Schooley. Dorothy moved to Niagara Falls NY in 1939 after her marriage to Frederick Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Lynne Conradt, Fort Myers, FL, son-in-law Mark Jon Conradt, son James Frederick Jackson, Greencastle, PA and special friend Debbie Exline, daughter-in-law Jane Goldstein Jackson, North Bellmore, NY, grand children, Erika Conradt, Benjamin (Anna) Jackson, Evan Jackson, Emily Jackson, Brian (Toni) Roginski, great grand daughter and namesake Dotty Roginski and niece Carolyn Schooley. Dorothy, Dotty to those who loved her, retired from the Niagara Falls Board of Education as an administrative assistant in the 80’s. She was an advocate of volunteerism when raising her family and spent time in retirement helping Meals on Wheels and volunteering at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center gift shop. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary, an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Niagara Women’s Club. She loved to travel, visiting places like Hawaii, Bonaire, St.Thomas, The Bahamas and London, much of the United States and Canadian provinces, she loved music and was a skilled piano player. She also was a sportswoman, an ace alley bowler, lawn bowler, track star in her youth and golfer. Before she moved to Florida in 2017, she enjoyed playing bridge at Elderwood. She was always a lady, a pure fashionista and greeted people with a smile or a giggle. She accumulated many very special friends in her fulfilling life, notably Jean Morton, Delores Rodriguez, Mary Boorum, Michael Gamboian, and the late Genevieve Komorowski. In celebration of her life the family will receive friends August 1, 2019 from 1- 4 pm at Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
