March 21, 1933 - February 18, 2022
James Brady, 88, of Estero, FL passed away peacefully on February 18, 2022 after two years of medical issues. Born and raised in Upstate New York, he was the son of the late James and Jane Brady. Jim attended St. John Fisher College and received a law degree from New England School of Law. He worked for both the Massachusetts Defenders as Senior Trial Counsel and on his own for many years as a trial lawyer. After retiring he and his wife, Carol, relocated to Estero, FL. Jim was a devout Catholic who was devoted to his family and had a big heart; over the years he helped many friends and strangers alike. He was a proud patriot and veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. As a Renaissance man who ran the Boston Marathon multiple times, Jim had a wonderful vitality, intensity and curiosity about life; he loved cooking, along with making and sharing his delicious homemade wine; and proudly got his private pilot’s license at 70 years old. He also loved to travel, swim, ski, sail; and play chess, bridge, poker, golf, tennis, and the piano. He could dance a mean jitterbug. Surviving family members include his loving wife, Carol Brady, and daughter, Barbara Brady; niece, Jo-Anne Sullivan; nephews, Thomas (Patrice) Real, Joseph (Donna) Coleman, and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33967. Burial will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11:30 am in Sarasota National Cemetery.
