Joan Beatrice (Kendzora) Lane

June 28, 1940 - June 28, 2021

Joan Beatrice (Kendzora) Lane, of Naples, FL passed through death to New Life on Monday, June 28, 2021. Surrounded by the love of her family, she died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Midland, MI. Formerly of Naperville, IL, Joan and her husband Jerry moved to Bonita Springs, FL in 2000. After his death in 2016, she moved to Bentley Village in Naples. Joan was born June 28, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to Lawrence J. and Bernadette B. (Buser) Kendzora. She was a graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, MO and became a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. She married Jerry Lane in 1962. She said that was her best impulsive decision ever! She worked as a pediatric nurse, then turned her full time energies to raising her family. Joan had a joyful and adventurous spirit. She and Jerry were so deeply devoted to each other and their family! Together they enjoyed golf and travel. Through these they developed many deep and lasting friendships. Joan also had a creative streak and was an accomplished seamstress. She made her own wedding dress and many matching outfits for her daughters. To this day they may turn up in similar clothes! She instilled in her daughters the value of kindness, a generosity of spirit, a rich sense of humor, and the thrill of finding a good bargain. Joan is survived by her loving daughters, Sheryl Ann (Robert) Lane of Midland, MI and Janelle (Mark) Stevens of Kansas City, MO; sisters Anita Wylie of West Milford, NJ and Lorene (Clifford) Snow of Kansas City, MO; brothers Lawrence (Shirley) Kendzora of Miami, FL and William Kendzora of Kansas City, MO; brother and sister-in-law Denny and Nancy Lane of Clearwater, FL, and cherished grandchildren, Anna, Sarah, Jared, Trevor, and Tyler. In addition to her parents she was welcomed to New Life by her husband of 53 years, Jerry R. Lane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue N, Naples, FL 34108. Burial and luncheon will follow immediately in the church memorial garden and reception hall. In continuing Joan’s spirit of generosity, please consider memorial contributions in her name to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research - https://lustgarten.org/donate/ or Ronald McDonald House Charities - https://www.rmhc.org/donate.
