Karin V. Cusic
March 21, 1946 - February 15, 2022
Karin Dorette Volckmann Cusic was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left us after a brief respiratory illness on February 15, 2022. Karin was born to Ernst and Sally Volckmann in the great city of New York on March 21, 1946. After graduating from high school at the ripe age of 16, Karin attended St. Lawrence University in upstate New York, where she quickly learned that a sense of humor, quick wit and a gorgeous smile can always get you out of a jam. Upon returning to New York after earning her Bachelors' Degree, Karin attended Columbia University School of Social Work where she fell in love with helping people at the Spence Chapin Adoption Agency. Soon after that, Karin was introduced to a strapping, yet somewhat older than her (by 7 years) Wall Street investment broker who turned out to be the love of her life and willing partner in all types of adventures, but most importantly, raising a brood of three cute little rascals. Karin's greatest pride was her children and later in life, her two grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking immensely and considered herself the Barefoot Contessa of her own domain, where she happily took over the kitchen on holidays to make sure the gravy didn't burn and the seasoning on the meat was perfect. She was an avid tennis player with a mean forehand and enjoyed many years of doubles (possibly with a few curses and McEnroe moments) when she challenged dear friends alongside her beloved husband. Karin is survived by her husband, Richard E. Cusic and their three children, Eryn (Garden Grove, CA), Kristin Doerrer (husband Michael, Swampscott, MA), Michael (fiancé, Samantha Stone, Salem, MA); grandchildren, Devin and Dylan Doerrer; brother, Carl Volckmann (Linda, Stuart, FL); nieces and nephews, Karin, Tina, Kinza and Eric as well as countless friends. A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 PM on February 20, 2022 in the Chapel at the Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the United Church of Christ, Naples, Florida. We will forever remember our Karin for always being full of joy with endless patience. Although the light here on earth might seem a little more dim today, we're comforted knowing that her quick wit, unflappable sense of humor, and gorgeous smile are undoubtedly still working their magic. We will miss you terribly, our sweet and loving Mom, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Rest in eternal peace.
